Bandages are the cheap, stackable heal for the damage you take by accident; first aid kits are the expensive, decisive heal for the damage you take on purpose — boss fights, camp raids, the warlord endgame. Carry several bandages for every one first aid kit, and let cooked food cover the slow regeneration underneath both.
