Two Regions, One Difficulty Curve

Ashfall Vale is the classroom and Emberdeep is the exam. The Vale hands you every tool one at a time; Emberdeep assumes you carry Frost potions, upgraded armor and the habit of reading telegraphs. The comparison table on the region comparison page breaks the differences down number by number.

You can walk back to the Vale at any time — vendors there still buy Emberdeep drops at full price, and the fast-trip gate opens both ways once you have the Key.
